Plans for the Social Program in Philadelphia
As autumn of 2025 moves into the holiday season, it is time for us to focus on the arrival of spring in March of next year; specifically, March 20th – 22nd. It’s a pleasure to announce the plans for the Social Program for the 2026 Angle East Meeting in Philadelphia.
The schedule for the scientific program next year will be designed to give our Angle East members a unique opportunity to join with their spouses/companions on Friday afternoon for a tour of the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia followed by dinner in Chinatown at the Beijing Duck House Restaurant. On Saturday morning, the spouses/companions will have the chance to take a guided tour of the Reading Terminal Market shops and then finish the morning with a select-your-own lunch experience from the extensive cuisine choices offered throughout the Market.

Planned Events
The Barnes Museum Foundation was started by Albert C. Barnes in 1922. The museum, which was moved to Philadelphia in 2012, “houses one of the world’s greatest collections of modern European paintings, African art, Native American ceramics, Greek antiquities, Pennsylvania German furniture, and decorative ironwork.” Barnes assembled his collection from 1912 until his death in 1951 including objects from “across history and around the globe”. Don’t miss being part of this extraordinary Angle East Outing to explore The Barnes Museum’s carefully curated art collections and then on to Chinatown to enjoy an exceptional dining experience at the Beijing Duck House Restaurant.
A private dining room has been reserved at the Beijing Duck House Restaurant to enhance the time we have to gather together and catch-up with each other once again while we enjoy the sumptuous cuisine highlighted by the house specialty, Peking Duck.
Following breakfast at the Union League on Saturday morning, spouses and companions can join together for a brief walk (about 4 blocks) or catch the “Philly Phlash” to the Reading Terminal Market, a nationally recognized historic market place situated beneath the Reading Railroad Train Shed. Once there, we will engage in a 45-minute tour of this impressive venue. The tour will include market history, stories and an overview of some of the cooking styles that are available. After the tour, participants can enjoy their own exploration of the wide variety of shops with crafts, souvenirs, and dining options. Before heading back to the Union League, meet up for a quick lunch or, maybe, a quick stop at one of the pastry or chocolate shops!
While admittedly, there is plenty to see and do in Philadelphia on your own, our hope for this year’s Social program is an emphasis on creating special memories from shared experiences. Please join us in 2026; it’s going to be amazing!
